army marriage project FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Payment:

1. How long will it take for my payment to arrive once my questionnaire is complete? Although we try to process payments as quickly as possible, it can take up to 4 weeks for you to receive your payment.

2. It’s been 4 weeks and I still have not received my payment. What should I do? Contact us to inquire about your payment.

3. If I am divorced, do I have to wait until my former spouse also completes their questionnaire before I can get paid? No, you are each compensated separately, so you will be compensated for completing your questionnaire even if your former spouse does not complete his or hers.

4. If I am deployed, can I have my payment made payable to my spouse? Your payment must be made payable to you or deposited to your bank account. If you are deployed and do not have a bank account or mailing address for payment, we may hold your payment until you return, but you must complete your questionnaire within 3 months of when it is due. Click here to contact us to change your payment method or to ask further questions on this topic.

5. Can I still stop by the office to receive cash payment for my questionnaire? We no longer have an office at Fort Campbell or Fort Benning and do not have the option of cash payment. You may receive your payment by check in the mail, or you may request your payment be deposited to your bank account. Click here to contact us regarding further payment questions or to request your payment be deposited to your bank account.

Life and relationship changes:

6. I am separated/divorced/remarried/no longer in the Army (or my spouse or former spouse is no longer in the Army), can I still complete paid questionnaires? Since this is a long term research project, we recognize that circumstances in your life may change. As long as this project continues, you will be a participant and remain able to complete paid questionnaires. Therefore, you may continue to complete paid questionnaires even if you are no longer in the Army, missed prior questionnaires, or are now single or remarried. Each time you click on a questionnaire link, you will be asked questions on your marital and military status. Based on your responses to these questions, you will be directed to the appropriate questions for your situation.

7. Now that I am divorced and remarried, can my new spouse complete paid questionnaires? Unfortunately, we do not accept new participants into our research. However, you may, and are encouraged to, continue participation on your own.

8. What if my spouse no longer able, not currently able, or not currently willing to complete questionnaires? You may still participate in our paid research even if your spouse or former spouse is no longer able or willing to do so. Since this is a long term research project, we recognize that circumstances in your life may change. As long as our research continues, we will always desire your input and participation. Please contact us to inform us of your situation so we may be able to determine the best means for you to participate.

Missed questionnaires:

9. I never completed my last questionnaire, can I still do so? You have 3 months to complete each questionnaire sent to you by mail or e-mail. The link you receive via e-mail will expire 3 months after you first received it. If you do not have internet access, you may request a paper questionnaire. We mail paper questionnaires to any address including deployment addresses. If extenuating circumstances made it impossible for you to complete a questionnaire within the 3 month open period, you may request an extension by phone or e-mail. Click here to contact us to do so.

Deployment:

10. I just returned from a deployment and was unable to complete my most recent questionnaire while deployed, can I still do so? It is most beneficial to the accuracy of our research for you to complete a questionnaire as soon as it is sent to you via e-mail or by mail. If extenuating circumstances made it impossible for you to complete a questionnaire within the 3 month open period; such as, you did not have access to the internet or you were injured, you may request an extension by phone or e-mail. Click here to contact us.

11. I am deployed and have no payment address. Is there any other way to receive payment? If you are deployed and do not have a mailing address for payment, you may request your payment be deposited to your bank account, or held until you return. Please do not wait until you are home to complete your questionnaire as it may then be too late to do so. Apart from extenuating circumstances, you must complete your questionnaire within 3 months of when it is due. Click here to contact us to change your payment method or for further questions on this topic.

No internet/questionnaire completion methods:

13. I don’t have internet, is there another way for me to complete a questionnaire? You may complete your questionnaire by e-mail or by mail. Paper questionnaires are confidential (you do not put your name on them) and we provide free mailing envelopes for their return, even if you are deployed or living overseas. Confidentiality:

15. Are my responses confidential? Yes, your personal information will NOT be available to anyone outside of the University of Denver research team. Your responses will not be shared with anyone in the US Army, your spouse, or your former spouse. Any study findings provided to the U.S. Army, news agencies, or scientific journals will be reported in summaries, where your responses will be combined with those of hundreds of other participants. It will NOT be possible to identify any individual from the information that the University of Denver provides to the U.S. Army. Misc:

17. Why am I asked the same question more than once on a questionnaire? Sometimes our questionnaire software requires that we ask questions more than once in order to continually direct you to the right questions for your situation.
